About the Founder
At Counting Potential, we provide tailored math support for students and families who want more than homework help. Our work is designed to build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and help students become more independent problem solvers.
Maleeta Kitchen has more than 20 years of experience in education. She has taught at the elementary, middle school, and university levels, with experience in math intervention, gifted and talented education, curriculum design, and teacher preparation.
Her career has included serving as a math specialist, designing and implementing interventions, teaching gifted and talented students working above grade level, and serving as an adjunct professor at Towson University, where she helped future teachers understand the importance of strong, conceptual math instruction.
Maleeta founded Counting Potential, LLC to provide individualized mathematics support that helps students close learning gaps, build confidence, and move beyond the opportunity gaps that too often limit academic success.
Her formal education includes a graduate degree in Education Policy and Leadership from American University, a graduate degree in Mathematics Education from Towson University, and an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Delaware.
